IEEE Rising Stars Conference
Las Vegas, NV
January’s Rising Stars
Conference in Las Vegas to Emphasize Technical Innovation & Professional
Development for Engineers
The third-annual IEEE Rising
Stars Conference, 2-4 January at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino in
Las Vegas, is designed for engineering students and young professionals
looking to network with their peers and learn from seasoned veterans. It will
feature two tracks, one on technical innovation and one on professional
development.
A sampling of topics
includes:
• The Power of
Storytelling in Leadership
• Communicating & Networking
in a Virtual World
• Creating & Marketing Your
Personal Brand
• High Performance & Virtual
Reality
• Entrepreneurship &
Start-ups
• Internet of Things, New
Technologies & Smart Cities
“We think the dual nature of
the conference -- emerging technology and professional development -- will
have maximum benefit for our younger members,” IEEE Region 6 Director
Kathleen Kramer said. “Both areas are key to a successful career in
engineering.”
Job seekers and employers can
find each other at Rising Stars. Plenty of networking time is available
during breaks and at the young professionals’ meetup and mixers. The program
also features a resume review session and video pitch competition. The video
contest includes four prizes totaling $1,500.
The conference will begin
Monday Jan. 2 at 6 p.m. with welcoming remarks by Kramer, Conference Chair
Pei-Jung Tsai and 2017 IEEE-USA President Karen Pedersen.
If you’ve got more time to
stay in Las Vegas, Rising Stars will be followed by:
• Consumer Electronics
Show, 5-8 January
• IEEE Computing &
Communication Workshop & Conference, 9-11 January
Rising Stars is the premier
event for students and young professionals in IEEE Region 6 (Western United
States).
IEEE-USA serves the public good and
promotes the careers and public policy interests of nearly 200,000
engineering, computing and technology professionals who are U.S. members of
IEEE.
