On Sunday, November 12, a FIRST Lego League Qualifying Tournament was held in Thousand Oaks at La Reina High School. About 150 middle school students from 23 teams competed to go on to a regional tournament. FIRST inspires young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators. IEEE Buenaventura Section supported this event both financially and in providing volunteers.

Teams of students in FIRST Lego League Challenge engage in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering – building and programming a Lego robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. Teams also participate in a research project to identify and solve a relevant real-world problem.
